Shlemenko: Miocic's fight with Volkov is an ideal option

Former Bellator middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko shared his opinion about yesterday's victory of Daniel Cormier over Stipe Miocic at the UFC 226 tournament.

- Is it possible to make a rematch between Miocic and Cormier?

- I think that in the near future it is a no go, because the victory was quick. The rematch is usually organized when the battle was close, or the judges made a controversial decision. And Cormier doesn’t need it now. Although the second fight would be very interesting.

- What future awaits Miocic?

- He will have a chance to return to the top. He will close this defeat and seek the right to a title fight. It is unlikely that the leadership of the UFC will prevent it, although the competition in the division is the highest.

- Is it possible that Miocic will fight the Russian Alexander Volkov?

- Very possible. I think this fight would be an ideal option for both: Stipe would have become the number one contender for the title fight in the case of victory, and Alexander, if he had won, then, besides the right to fight for the belt, would have gained great fame. It would be a really good fight. Do not be surprised if it is organized in the near future.
