On May 12 in New York Vasyl Lomachenko will face WBA lightweight champion Jorge Linares and try to become the world champion in his third weight class. At the moment, Lomachenko continues to own the WBO title in the super featherweight division, and the organization's leadership obliged the Ukrainian to take a decision on this title within 10 days after the battle with Linares, no matter what its outcome would be.
Vasyl will have to decide whether to stay at 135 or go back to 130. If Lomachenko decides to continue his career in the lightweights, the WBO title will be declared vacant and will be played by two boxers with the highest standing in the ratings - Puerto Rican Christopher Diaz, also on contract with Top Rank, and the Japanese Masayuki Ito.
