WBO cruiserweight champion Alexander Usyk considers Floyd Mayweather's fight against Conor McGregor, which will take place on the weekend, August 26, as "a shame for boxing". In his next fight September 9 Usyk will have to meet former world champion Marco Huck in Berlin in the quarterfinal duel of the World Boxing Super Series.
"It's a shame for boxing, a slap in the face of his majesty boxing," said Usyk. “How can McGregor, who fights in the UFC, get Mayweather? He should not even get a scratch. If the best could not hit Mayweather: Canelo, Oscar, all the others... There used to be some sort of gliding past somewhere. Boxing is the sport of gentlemen, and there goes the sport of the dollar."
