Speaking on a conference call after the fight Lomachenko was less than impressed: “I did see [Mikey Garcia’s] fight, his trainer Robert Garcia at one point called Mikey Garcia a fighter of the ‘A’ class. I didn’t see anything during that bout where he was a Class-A, outstanding fighter.”
Lomachenko may not have been impressed, but Garcia was widely praised for schooling ‘The Problem’ in Brooklyn. “Yes, he won the fight. Yes, he did everything to win the fight, but I haven’t seen nothing outstanding,” argued ‘High-Tech’. “I haven’t seen him being an A-Class fighter and it was slow. I almost fell asleep!”
Robert Garcia, older brother and trainer of Mikey responded in kind, “[Lomachenko] said on the call that Mikey didn’t look good, that he wasn’t impressed. Reach out to us. It’s an easy fight to make. Let’s do the fight in November. Let’s see if they call me. I bet you they don’t call me.”
