Oleksandr Usyk (11-0, 10 KOs), from Kiev, Ukraine, and a 2012 Olympic gold medalist, will be defending his WBO cruiserweight world title against Top-10 contender Michael Hunter (12-0, 8 KOs), from Las Vegas, Nev. This Saturday, the American introduction of Usyk continues with an HBO-televised title defense at MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland.
This fight will be the opener for Ukraine’s Vasyl Lomachenko (7-1, 5 KOs) defense of his WBO world super featherweight championship against Camden, New Jersey, native Jason Sosa (20-1-4, 15 KOs) on Saturday night in Oxon Hill, Maryland. HBO will televise this card as a “World Championship Boxing” tripleheader from MGM National Harbor, a new casino & resort just outside of Washington, D.C.
In the middle bout is a ten-round light heavyweight fight that pits Oleksandr Gvozdyk (12-0, 10 KOs) against Yuniesky Gonzalez (18-2, 14 KOs).
So Usyk vs. Hunter happens Saturday, April 8 live on HBO beginning at 10pm ET/PT. It’s 3 a.m in UK and Boxnation will televise. In Ukraine the Ukrainian card will be shown on the local Inter channel with the start at 5 a.m. local time.
