Absolute World Boxing Council welterweight champion Saul Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) revealed why he accepted a fight with Jaime Mugniyah (43-0, 34 KOs) despite previously promising not to share the ring with his compatriots.
"Yes, I said I don't want to fight Mexican fighters. But a respected fighter like Munguia deserved this fight. I'm glad that we were able to harmonize everything. It's a big reason for me to be proud because it's Mexico. I'm proud of Jaime's success. We have a lot of respect for each other and I think everyone understands that. Our fight may divide the fans, but in the end it's good for Mexico. Because no matter who you like, it will be a fight for all of Mexico," - quotes Alvarez ESPN.
Earlier it became known that Alvarez and Munguia will fight on May 4 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, USA.
