Canelo: "I would respect Tyson's opinion if he was sober"

Absolute world champion in the second middleweight division Saul Alvarez reacted harshly to harsh remarks from the legendary Mike Tyson.

Earlier, the American veteran criticized the Mexican for his unwillingness to fight the holder of the WBC interim belt David Benavides: "You don't respect the legacy of all the greatest Mexican fighters. They fought the best of the best without prioritizing the money factor. It's a disgrace to boxing, a disgrace to Mexico. I would take the fight with Benavides if I were him and prove to everyone that I am the strongest fighter. Canelo is talented, but unfortunately he lacks courage. It's a shame."

"I would respect his opinion if he was sober," - responded Alvarez.

Recall that Alvarez will share the ring with compatriot Jaime Munguia on May 4 in Las Vegas, USA.
