In summer, a fight between WBA world champion Israil Madrimov (10-0-1, 7 KOs) and Virgil Ortiz (20-0-0, 20 KOs) may take place at a boxing night organized in the United States.
In early March in Saudi Arabia, the Uzbek boxer won the World Boxing Association belt by defeating Magomed Kurbanov early in the fifth round. Madrimov must now make a mandatory defense.
Ortiz is the official challenger for the WBA belt in the 69-kilogram weight class. In his last performance in the ring, the American knocked out Fredric Lawson in the first round.
That said, according to information that surfaced a week ago, the unbeaten 25-year-old Ortiz is scheduled to return to the ring on April 27 in Fresno, USA, in a fight against a yet-to-be-announced opponent.
