Topuria admires McGregor and considers him an MMA icon

Elijah Topuria, UFC featherweight champion, shared his opinion on the organization's former two-weight champion Conor McGregor. Topuria doesn't understand how one can hate the star Irishman.

"I really have a lot of admiration for the man and a lot of respect for everything he's done in sports. It's silly to hate him. After everything he's done in his personal life and all the accomplishments he has. I don't like to judge people I don't know personally. Either way, he's an icon of the sport," Combatalk quoted the fighter as saying.

McGregor had his last fight in the summer of 2021, losing early to Puryear. After that, he spent a long period of time recovering from injury, and there was no news about his fight. However, Conor has spoken several times recently about wanting to fight Michael Chandler in June.
