Tim Simpson, manager of UFC welterweight Jack Dell Maddalena, revealed that his charge broke his hand during his recent bout with Gilbert Burns, a former challenger for the promotion's featherweight championship belt.
"'Jack Della Maddelena's hand broke early in the fight, but he rallied and finished his opponent in the third round. Soldier! P.S. Gilbert hits hard!"," the functionary wrote on his social media accounts.
The bout between Burns and Della Maddalena took place on March 10 at UFC 299. The first two rounds, according to two judges, took the Brazilian Burns. However, in the final three minutes, Della Maddalena landed a crushing knee strike, finishing his opponent.
