Makhachev explained his desire to fight with Porier

UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev revealed why he gave verbal consent to fight former interim belt holder Dustin Porier in June.

One of the subscribers on Instagram asked the Dagestani fighter the relevant question:

"Bro, Gaethje knocked him out. Why not fight the guy who knocked out Puryear or wait for the winner of the fight between Tsarukyan and Oliveira? Both deserve it more than Dustin," he questioned

"Just want to fight, brother, I don't want to wait any longer," Islam replied to this.

Recall that Puryear got back into a winning rut this past weekend, knocking out Benoit Saint-Denis in the second round. The fight took place at the UFC 299 tournament in Miami, USA.
