St. Denis cited the reason for Puryear's defeat

UFC lightweight Benoit Saint-Denis commented on his loss to Dustin Puryear. The Frenchman gave the reason why he lost to the former interim lightweight champion.

"Unfortunately, I wasn't able to put on a full performance this evening. My body didn't do well after a week of taking antibiotics to fight an infection. I was there but my body was absent and didn't react like it normally does," Saint-Denis wrote on social media.

The bout between Saint-Denis and Puryear took place this morning at UFC 299. Porye finished his opponent already in the second round.

Recall, in the main event of UFC 299, the promotion's reigning lightweight champion Sean O'Malley won by unanimous decision of judges over Marlon Vera.
