Dustin Porier, former interim UFC lightweight champion, explained why he agreed to fight the division's French prospect Benoit Saint-Denis.
"I had to think about it before accepting the fight and starting training camp. And the answer to all these questions is to test myself. I have 30 fights behind me in the UFC, let me fight this young man who has fire in his eyes, he's a young lion who finishes people. Let me and this guy go into the octagon and see what happens. I can still win and I still have fire in me. That's why I wanted to test myself in a fight with Benoit," stated Puryear.
Recall, the confrontation between Puryear and Saint-Denis will take place on March 10 in the framework of UFC 299.
