White confirms UFC 300 will open with two former champions fighting

Dana White, UFC CEO, confirmed previously reported information that a fight between Cody Garbrandt, a former UFC bantamweight champion, and Deiveson Figueredo, a former UFC flyweight champion, will open the program of the organization's 300th anniversary tournament, which will take place in night of April 14 in Las Vegas.

“I want to host the best tournament in history. Every fight on the card now could be a main event on Fight Night or pay-per-view. The first fight of the preliminary card will begin with Garbrandt vs. Figueredo. What does this mean?,” the Las Vegas Review-Journal quotes the functionary.

Let us remind you that Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler previously agreed to fight in the main fight of UFC 300.
