Former middleweight title challengerSergey Derevyanchenkoo spoke about a potential fight between the absolute world champion in the second middle division Saul Alvarez and the holder of the WBC temporary belt in the same category David Benavidez.

— For so many years now, fans have been dreaming about the Canelo Alvarez vs David Benavidez fight. Who do you think would win?

- That's a good question. Well, now Benavidez has picked up that pace. Confidently defeated Demetrius Andrade. He looked very strong and confident. I walked around like a roller. You can say that you didn’t notice your opponent.

I don’t even know which one to give preference to. A fight would be cool. I would probably still bet on Benavidez.

— Do you believe that this fight will take place?

— More “yes” than “no.” Because Al Haymon has them both now. Considering that Canelo has 2 fights left on his contract, I think that they will first be given one fight each, and only then they will be brought together in a head-to-head confrontation for really big money.

Considering that they now represent the same “office”, they can be offered good conditions and make a really big fight.

— Who would you be more comfortable boxing with - Canelo or Benavidez?

— Of course, it would be more convenient to box with Canelo. Because he's not that big. Benavidez is a tall fighter. Purely visually, he is not very strong, not very physically powerful. But in the ring he demonstrates an aggressive, assertive, powerful boxing style,” Derevyanchenko said.
