California State Athletic Commission Changes MMA Rules

Andy Foster, executive director of the California State Athletic Commission, spoke about what changes to the rules of mixed martial arts the organization plans to adopt. According to Andy, kicking a fighter with one hand touching the canvas will now be considered legal.

“We are planning to legalize kicks when the other fighter has one hand on the canvas. If a fighter wants to go down, he will need to fall on his back or kneel - he will no longer be able to keep one hand on the canvas. This rule causes confusion,” the official said on The MMA Hour.

Let's remember that literally at UFC 297 Arnold Allen delivered several knee strikes to Movsar Evloev, who put one hand on the canvas. These strikes were declared illegal.
