Strickland's coach on defeat to Du Plessis: "We took three rounds"

Trainer of former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland Eric Niksik commented on the defeat of his ward in a duel with Dricus Du Plessis.

“Congratulations to Drikus and his team. I have never met a better fighter and opponent during fight week. The guy backed up his claims with his skills. I'm happy for you, for your team, for your country. You made them proud of you.

The fight was close. I thought we took rounds 1, 2 and 5. I watched the fight again and came to the conclusion that we could have done better. A huge thank you to everyone who supported us,” the MMA Junkie specialist quotes.

Last weekend at UFC 297 in Toronto, Strickland lost to Du Plessis by split decision and was stripped of his belt.
