Chimaev: “The fight between Strickland and Du Plessis was like tough sparring”

Undefeated UFC middleweight Khamzat Chimaev shared his impressions of watching the title fight between Dricus Du Plessis And Sean Strickland, which took place last weekend at the UFC 297 tournament in Toronto.

“I expected the fight to turn out like this. Nothing special. It was 50/50, the meeting could have gone either way. Maybe the result is fair, maybe not. Don't know. In my opinion, Strickland won the fight, but for the guys it was a close fight. Still nothing special. No one made me think, “Oh, this guy is cool.” I saw a lot of holes in both fighters' styles that would allow me to finish them.

It was a good fight, but nothing special. Everything was exactly the same as in hard sparring. A few takedowns and that's it. No one was trying to get an early victory,” Chimaev said in an interview with ESPN MMA.

Let us remember that Du Plessis defeated Strickland by split decision and became the new UFC middleweight champion.
