Porter on Wilder's loss to Parker: 'You can't teach a 38-year-old to do a backflip'

Former world champion, now an expert Shawn Porter commented on the defeat Deontay Wilder in a duel against Joseph Parker.

“Wilder didn’t hit. I thought he would come into the ring with a jab. I believed Wilder would double jab and throw a right hand. I thought Wilder would come out with a one and a two. I thought he would work hard just showing the ropes. I thought so based on my knowledge of Malik Scott.

Wilder is 38 years old. It's easier to teach an 8-year-old how to do a backflip than a 38-year-old. And that’s the whole point. I thought they were training in the gym. I fell for the fact that they work in Alabama and California. I was excited, I was determined to see this guy give the performance that I thought he should have given for years. But we didn’t get any of that because you can’t teach a 38-year-old to do a backflip,” Porter said on his podcast.

Let us remember that on December 23, Wilder lost to Parker by unanimous decision in the co-main event of the boxing evening in Riyadh.
