Prior to the fight, there was constant conflicting information in the media as to whether the bouts of the evening in Hollywood, Florida, would be official or exhibition ones. A few dozen hours before the tournament itself, it was announced that the result of the fight would be put on the record of Holyfield and Vitor Belfort (1-0, 1 KO). In the end, however, the fight turned out to be an exhibition affaire.
