In a bout between two undefeated welterweights on the undercard, Spence-Ugas, regular WBA welterweight champion Rajab Butaev (14-1, 11 KOs) from Russia in a stubborn fight lost to a Lithuanian by a split decision Eimantas Stanionis (14-0, 9 KOs) during twelve hot fights. In the eleventh round, judge Rafael Ramos deducted a point from Butaev for holding Stanionis's head, but in the end, this did not affect the final verdict of the judges, who gave 114-113 in favor of Butaev and 116-111 and 117-110 to Stanionis .
An evening of boxing on April 16 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, in the main event of which there will be a unification bout for three welterweight belts between the WBC and IBF title holder Errol Spence Jr. (27-0, 21 KOs) and WBA champion Yordenis Ugas (27-4, 12 KOs), received an approved undercard.
On Showtime Boxing Night in Las Vegas Radzhab Butaev (14-0, 11 KOs) scored a ninth round TKO over Jamal James (28-2, 12 KOs) to win the "regular" WBA welterweight belt. In his next appearance, the Russian will fight for the "super" WBA title against the winner of the Yordenis Ugas vs Eimantas Stanionis fight.
WBA welterweight champion Jamal James (27-1, 12 KOs) and undefeated challenger Radzhab Butaev (13-0, 10 KOs) were officially weighed in prior to their bout at the Mandalay Bay Arena in Las Vegas, to be broadcast on Showtime TV. James and Butayev were tied for the same weight of 145.25 pounds (65.88 kg).
Jamal James (27-1, 12 KOs) has been the 'world' WBA welterweight champion for several days after the World Boxing Association took this title from Manny Pacquiao. At the same time, the American in his next fight will have to face Radzhab Butaev (13-0, 10 KOs).
