Former two-weight world champion and current WBC No. 1 bantamweight champion Louis "Panther" Nery (33-1, 25 KOs) scored an early victory in the third round over David "North" Carmona (22-11-5, 9 KOs) in the main bout of the evening in Tijuana, Mexico. Neri was able to send Carmona to the floor once in the second round and twice in the third until the fight was stopped.

WBC won't strip Nery of title for failed drug test

Bantamweight world titleholder Luis Nery won't be stripped of his belt for a failed drug test because the WBC said it believes that the positive finding was the result of food contamination. But, in its ruling on Monday, the WBC also ordered Nery to give former titleholder Shinsuke Yamanaka an immediate rematch.
