The marquee matchup for UFC Fight Night 274 is locked in after Friday’s official weigh-ins in Las Vegas, where Aljamain Sterling and Youssef Zalal both hit their marks for Saturday’s main event. Sterling came in at 146 pounds, while Zalal weighed 145.5, clearing the way for a featherweight headliner that carries real divisional intrigue.

This is a meaningful spot for Sterling, the former bantamweight champion, as he continues his push in a new division after spending years among the UFC’s elite at 135. For Zalal, it is the biggest opportunity of his UFC run and a chance to turn momentum into a true breakthrough against the most accomplished name he has faced.

American fans will likely view this fight through Sterling’s lens first. He is already a proven championship-level fighter, so anything less than a sharp performance raises questions about how high his ceiling really is at 145. A win for Sterling could move him quickly toward ranked featherweight contention. A win for Zalal, on the other hand, would dramatically reshape the division’s middle tier and put him on the radar as a serious climber.

The rest of the card also made it through weigh-ins without major drama. Norma Dumont and Joselyne Edwards both checked in at 135.5 pounds, while Rafa Garcia weighed 155 and Alexander Hernandez 155.5. Raoni Barcelos came in at 136 for his matchup with Montel Jackson, who weighed 135.5. In one of the card’s biggest size contrasts, Marcus Almeida hit 252.5 pounds and Ryan Spann came in at 264.

Among the prelims, Rodolfo Vieira weighed 185.5 for his bout with Eric McConico at 186, and Cody Durden and Jafel Filho each came in at 135.5. Talita Alencar was 116 pounds for her fight against Julia Polastri, who made 115.

Now that the scale is out of the way, the real question is whether Sterling can look like an immediate threat at featherweight or whether Zalal is ready to crash the conversation with the biggest win of his career.
