Bisping Sees Topuria vs. Tsarukyan as a Real Test Ahead of a Possible UFC 3XX Showdown

Former UFC champion and current commentator-analyst Michael Bisping weighed in on a potential lightweight title fight between UFC champion Ilia Topuria and Arman Tsarukyan.

A blockbuster lightweight matchup between Ilia Topuria and Arman Tsarukyan is already being framed as one of the most compelling fights the UFC can make, and Michael Bisping believes it would ask serious questions of the champion. While no bout has been officially announced, the possibility of Topuria defending his UFC lightweight title against Tsarukyan has quickly become a major talking point around the division. With Islam Makhachev no longer sitting at the center of every immediate title discussion, the path at 155 pounds feels more open than it has in years.

Bisping’s view is simple: Tsarukyan presents a style that could force Topuria into uncomfortable territory. “Arman is probably one of the few legitimate tests Ilia may have. Topuria is accurate, composed, and operates with surgical precision, but I don’t know if he can outwrestle Arman Tsarukyan.”

That is the key question, and it is exactly why American fans would buy into this matchup. Topuria has built his reputation on sharp boxing, timing, and composure under pressure, but Tsarukyan has long been regarded as one of the most technically dangerous wrestlers in the division. In a weight class loaded with elite strikers and grapplers, this is the kind of style clash that can define a champion’s run.

The stakes are obvious. If Topuria wins, he strengthens his case as more than a two-division star chasing big names — he becomes the man who solved one of the division’s hardest tactical problems. If Tsarukyan wins, the UFC gets a new lightweight champion with a résumé-making victory and a fresh set of title fight options for 2026.

Tsarukyan has also been viewed by many observers as one of the toughest outs at 155 because of his pace, control, and ability to mix entries together rather than rely on one path to victory. If this fight comes together on a UFC 3XX card, the buildup will center on whether Topuria’s precision can hold up once Tsarukyan starts forcing long grappling exchanges.
