The renowned Dutch mixed martial artist Alistair Overeem, who previously vied for the UFC heavyweight championship, shared his perspective on the current state of the promotion's most prestigious weight class.
According to the veteran, the UFC heavyweight division is experiencing a notable decline.
“Unfortunately, it is no longer a secret to anyone – the heavyweight division is indeed in decline. The best remain at the top, but the spectacle and variety are no longer the same. There used to be plenty of stars, and now they have noticeably diminished. Almost no one from Japan... It’s like the tides of the ocean: sometimes the division is overflowing with talent, sometimes it almost empties out. Markets bloom and quiet down,” Overeem stated in an interview with Bloody Elbow.
