UFC featherweight title contender Diego Lopez stated his intention to win early in the upcoming rematch with champion Alexander Volkanovski, which will take place on January 31 at UFC 325 in Sydney.
“I learned a lot. When I fought Volkanovski in April, I was somewhat overconfident. I had a great winning streak. I thought I didn’t need to change anything in my training process. But after the fight, I saw a lot that was wrong in my training. So after that fight, I corrected a lot. Now I feel much better. I rented a private gym just for myself and my team. No distractions. No people coming to the gym with questions, asking for photos or videos.
I’m fighting on enemy territory. I need to finish this fight. Submission, knockout, complete dominance all five rounds. That’s my goal. My goal is to win,” Lopez is quoted by MMA Mania.
Their first fight took place in April last year at UFC 314 in Miami for the vacant title. Volkanovski controlled the fight with precise strikes and volume, although Lopez shook him hard in the second round. Ultimately, the Australian won by unanimous decision (48-47, 49-46, 49-46) and regained the belt.
