UFC commentator Joe Rogan expressed the opinion that the welterweight champion Islam Makhachev surpasses former lightweight division leader Khabib Nurmagomedov due to a more versatile fighting arsenal.
"Khabib is undoubtedly one of the greatest fighters of all time. But the difference between Khabib and Islam is that Islam has elite striking skills. Khabib is also very good on his feet, but Islam knocked out Volkanovski with a head kick – that’s not in Khabib’s arsenal. Islam is on another level, he's a level above. He can knock out standing, on the ground, he can make people submit," Rogan stated on the podcast The Joe Rogan Experience.
