Benavidez: "I want to fight the best version of Bivol, not an injured one"

WBC light heavyweight champion David Benavidez believes that in the future he can fight against WBA, WBO, and IBF titleholder Dmitry Bivol.

“It’s difficult to negotiate with Canelo, but I don’t rule out our fight. I think Dmitry Bivol is more of a man of his word than Canelo. If our fight is scheduled again, then I am sure it will happen. But I don’t want to rush him too much because he had back surgery, and he had two great fights with Artur Beterbiev. So when Bivol is ready, I’ll be waiting for him right here.

It’s great that we have many options. We have Beterbiev, Gilberto Ramirez. So for me, it doesn’t matter. If Bivol fights someone else, then I’d rather fight his best version, not one that’s still injured. I don’t want him to have excuses that he wasn’t ready at one hundred percent. I want to beat all these fighters in their best condition, and that’s exactly what I’ll do,” Benavidez told The Ring.
