Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping explained why he respects Islam Makhachev, the former lightweight champion.
“That's why I respect this guy... He decided to move up to welterweight and try something new after defending the title four times. We have often seen fighters wanting to capture a title in another weight category right after becoming champions. Because there is no risk if you lose, you remain the champion. Makhachev defended the title four times and proved that he truly is the best lightweight fighter in the world,” Bisping said in an interview with the YouTube channel Mike Bohn.
