UFC lightweight Michael Chandler shared his opinion on the upcoming fight between Jack Della Maddalena and Islam Makhachev.
"Islam is a special type of fighter. You can't say that he's a lightweight who isn't used to working with guys from the welterweight class. I wouldn't be surprised if throughout his career Islam sparred with fighters of lightweight, welterweight, middleweight, and even light heavyweight, so I think strength and size won't be a problem. It will all come down to the showdown between Jack's excellent striking skills, his takedown defense, and Islam's grappling pressure that he will definitely showcase.
As for striking, Poirier hits hard, I'm a witness to that, but he certainly doesn't hit harder than Jack, so it will be interesting. I think Islam will get hit a couple of times, and we'll see how quickly he switches to wrestling. With that being said, I'd give a slight advantage to Jack in this fight," the American fighter said in an interview with Ariel Helwani.
