Poirier and Holloway will close the trilogy on July 19 at UFC 318

Popular American mixed martial artist, former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Poirier officially announced his farewell fight.

On July 19, in the main event of UFC 318 in New Orleans, USA, ā€œThe Diamondā€ will share the octagon for the third time with former featherweight champion Max Holloway, whom he has already defeated in 2012 and 2019.

ā€œThis will be my last fight. Iā€™ll leave my gloves in Louisiana, where it all started for me. My entire story began there, and it is a great honor for me that the UFC and the state of Louisiana were on the same wavelength and helped make this happen. On July 19, we will fight Max Holloway. Five rounds, the main event of the evening, a fight at a numbered tournament for his BMF title,ā€ Poirier said.

Letā€™s remind that Poirier and Holloway return to the cage after defeats in title fights. Dustin lost by submission to Islam Makhachev in June last year, while Max was knocked out by Ilia Topuria in October.
