Famous American MMA trainer Javier Mendes spoke out about the upcoming fight between UFC bantamweight champion Alex Pereira and Magomed Ankalaev.
The Brazilian and the Dagestani will fight in the main event of the UFC 313 show, which takes place on the night of March 9 in Las Vegas, USA.
"Alex is constantly progressing, constantly sparring, never resting. Of course, his wrestling is nowhere near that of Ankalaev. If the fight goes to the ground, Alex needs to try to get up. And the sooner the better. I think Ancalaev should be trying to get a takedown. Because the longer you fight Alex in the standup, the worse it is for you. Wrestling is Ancalaev's advantage over Pereira. So Mohammed should be trying to put him down. But maybe he'll fight in the standup. I don't know. I mean, he might. I don't know if he will," Mendes stated on his podcast.
