Islam Makhachev, the UFC lightweight champion, said Khabib Nurmagomedov prevented him from finishing Puryear in the standup.

"If he had let me fight more in the stand-up in the previous fight, I would have been able to knock Dustin out. I would punch a double, then a triple would come through, and I would immediately hear the yell, 'Move him, move him!' Khabib took the easy way out because everyone knows that the weak link in Dustin's arsenal is his wrestling. But in the last fight, he defended himself very well against wrestling. That's why I used the striking technique more."
