Retired American mixed martial arts fighter, now commentator and expert Chel Sonnen has praised UFC middleweight Hamzat Chimaev for not getting into the title race out of turn.
"Chimaev didn't do one thing, and I respect him for that. He didn't try to take the title shot away from Strickland. There would have been no shame in that, though. After all, it's okay to go head to head in this world. Chimaev's next fight will be for the championship belt. But it will not be the next time the title will be played," Sonnen said on his YouTube channel.
Recall that Chimaev defeated Robert Whittaker early on October 26 at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
