Chiesa: "It's almost certain we won't see Ferguson in the UFC again"

UFC American welterweight Michael Chiesa has called for former interim lightweight division champion Tony Ferguson to hang up his gloves.

At UFC on ABC 7 in early August, Chiesa defeated Ferguson with a first-round choke hold. For the 40-year-old "El Cucuy", the defeat marked the eighth consecutive loss.

"Hopefully he's done. If he wants to keep competing, a lot of jiu-jitsu leagues would be happy to pay him decently to perform. I just don't want to see him get hit in the head. I'm worried about him like a brother. I mean, we both competed on The Ultimate Fighter, so I genuinely wish him well.

He can make a living from jiu-jitsu bouts. I don't think it's about the days though. He's still quite athletic and agile. But he can't take any more passes to the head.

I'm pretty sure we won't see him in the UFC again. On the other hand, his contract can be renewed with him, which will keep him out of other leagues," BJ Penn quoted Chiesa as saying.
