Alex Pereira, the UFC bantamweight champion, revealed how he struggled with alcoholism starting when he was 12 years old.
"From the age of 12 I started drinking alcohol. It was a difficult period. Every year the amount of alcohol grew. Finally the moment came when I decided to quit. Where my home was, I had no knowledge of medical help or a group of people like those in the United States. After four years of fighting alcoholism, I managed to beat it," BJ Penn quoted Pereira as saying.
