Javier Mendez, the mentor of Islam Makhachev, spoke out about a possible rematch of his ward with Arman Tsarukyan.
"It's a good excuse to fight Arman Tsarukyan. Or somebody else. And then he'll have the longest streak of title defenses in lightweight history. I can't believe three is the record. So many fighters have won titles in the division, but they've never made more than three belt defenses. So Islam is going to break the record. I want him to become one of the greatest fighters of all time and I believe he's on the right track," Mendes said on the Red Corner MMA YouTube channel.
Recall, in the first fight Makhachev won Tsarukyan by unanimous decision of judges.
