"After the fight with Islam, I came home and thought, 'I guess this is it.' But then, after a few weeks, the injuries started hurting less and I thought, 'I've got to do it again.' I've never lost two fights in a row. I can't quit the sport after a loss," Puryear said in an interview with Jon Anik.
Recall that on June 1 at UFC 302, Puryear lost to Makhachev with a choke hold in the fifth round. For the 35-year-old American it was the third unsuccessful attempt to win a full-fledged belt.
