Usman explained why he doesn't think Pereira is the best fighter in the UFC

Former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman explained why the promotion's current welterweight division titleholder Alex Pereira doesn't deserve the top spot in the organization's top fighter rankings regardless of category.

"I have no disrespect for his merit. But right now we're talking about the P4P rankings. And in this plane you should show the highest level in striking technique, wrestling, grappling and jiu-jitsu. Your fighting style should work in all divisions without exception, no matter who you have to fight. In theory, you should basically defeat one fighter at any weight and still be dominant. That's exactly what number one P4P is all about.

Sure, you can always just knock out guys in the standup who don't try to fight you. But that doesn't mean you're the best in the world. You don't have to worry about that. You just need to prove that you really are the best. Take your next opponent to a tekdown, put him on the canvas, go full mount and catch him on the pain. Then I'll personally tell him he's the damn best," Usman said on the Pound 4 Pound with Kamaru & Henry podcast.
