Titled Canadian mixed martial arts veteran George St. Pierre expressed confidence that UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev is rightfully ranked as the promotion's top fighter regardless of weight class.
"I think Islam is the best fighter right now regardless of weight class. Because of his recent performances. They've been amazing. Islam showed amazing fortitude because he got a nasty dissection in the fight against Porier. I think facing Dustin will make Makhachev even better. Fights like this help you grow. Now Islam is on his way to the status of the greatest MMA fighter of all time," said St. Pierre in an interview with Tristar Gym.
Recall that on June 1, Makhachev made the third defense of the belt, defeating Dustin Puryear by choke.
