Former UFC featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski reached out to Dustin Puryear after his loss to Islam Makhachev and suggested a fight.
"Maybe, maybe, maybe, depending on what I do. ... Obviously, I want to fight this year. I don't know exactly what's going to happen, I don't want to wait too long, so if the timing is right, maybe Dustin and I can put on a great fight. I know he just wants good fun fights. Obviously we have a lot of respect for each other and I think it would be a massive fight, so I'd be willing to do that while I'm waiting for the featherweight title shot, maybe doing a lightweight fight against somebody like Dustin Puryear would be great. You heard it here for the first time, maybe we can work something out. Dustin, you're a legend, keep your head up, it was still a great performance, and maybe we could have a little fun, a little dance - let me know what you think about it."
