Khabib explained why he took part in Makhachev's preparation for the fight with Porier

Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov spoke about the reasons for returning to the training camp of his close friend, current belt holder Islam Makhachev.

The Dagestani will fight American Dustin Puryear in the main event of UFC 302 in Newark, USA, on the night of June 2.

"Historic fights are ahead. And these one and a half months I'd rather be around than regret later that here if I had been around, it would have been different. As much as I can, I try to be there to help. I'm always either on the phone, or around, or coming in to fight myself. I feel like I have a lot to share with them.

I also have my own things to do, my own life, projects I'm preparing. But what brings me the most positive energy is what I've been doing my whole life - when I'm in the gym, when I'm fighting and sharing my experience. Almost 90% of the guys that are here, they were there for me when I was a current athlete. And I also feel like giving back to them, sharing my experience. Because I know that when I'm in the gym and when I'm not, it's two different workouts," Khabib said on his YouTube channel.
