Adesanya: "Du Plessis and I are not made of the same dough."

Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya explained why current belt holder Dricus Du Plessis declined to fight him at UFC 300.

"We are made of different dough. There's a big difference between us... I wasn't even fully healed. But when the opportunity came, I thought, 'Fuck it, this is history.' This is monumental, UFC 300. Let's do it." But then again, me and Alex Volkanovski and Kamaru Usman are set up differently. When we were champions, we just went out to fight. Screw the belts. I have them at home.

The fans keep asking me when I'm coming back. I'm a two-time middleweight champion. I'm about to win a third time. It's not about the title. I'm going for the title. But Dricus is young, he did what he did, went very far and became champion. But those are realities - you don't want to lose the belt and you hold on to it," MMA Mania quoted Adesanya as saying.

According to the latest information, the Adesanya - Du Plessis fight could take place on August 18 at UFC 305 in Perth, Australia.
