According to reputable journalist Dan Rafael, Ruiz has decided to continue his professional career specifically in the boxing project of the UFC head.
“Andy Ruiz is heading to Zuffa, but in my view, it’s not such big news. Nevertheless, it's a good signing,” Rafael wrote, summarizing rumors circulating in the boxing community in recent days.
Ruiz last stepped into the ring in August 2024, ending the bout against Jarrell Miller in a draw. This fight marked his return after a long hiatus due to injuries and weight issues.
The Mexican-American heavyweight gained world fame in June 2019 when he sensationally defeated Anthony Joshua by early stoppage and claimed the WBA, IBF, and WBO titles. The rematch in December of that same year ended with Ruiz losing by unanimous decision of the judges.
