Former world champion Carl Froch made a bold prediction for the upcoming WBO heavyweight title fight: Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois, which is officially scheduled for May 9 in Manchester at the Co-op Live arena.
According to Froch, this is one of the most intriguing fights right now, but the odds are far from even. "On paper, it looks 50/50, but in reality, Daniel Dubois is a clear and quite strong favorite."
He particularly emphasized the difference in the level of opposition. Wardley defeated Justis Huni, Joseph Parker, Frazer Clarke, and David Adeleye, but according to Froch, none of them had a truly powerful "punch" for a heavyweight. Dubois, however, is a huge puncher who hits really hard.
"Fabio hasn't faced such a punch yet. If Dubois enters the ring charged, enjoys the fight, and works to his full potential, he can cause Wardley serious damage and knock him out hard. Possibly even a 'bad' knockout," warned Froch.
At the same time, he acknowledged the strengths of the current champion: Wardley has knocked out nearly all his opponents and has never been knocked out himself. However, the former champion believes that in this fight, Fabio may truly understand what professional boxing at the highest level is all about.
Let us remind you that Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KO) claimed the interim WBO title in October, stopping Joseph Parker in the 11th round, and was then elevated to full champion status after Usyk vacated the title.
