Alvarez: "We must have a rematch with Crawford"

The Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez still dreams of a rematch with Terence Crawford—despite the fact that the American has officially hung up his gloves.

In September 2025 in Las Vegas, Crawford sensationally and confidently took away Canelo's status as the undisputed world champion in the super middleweight category, winning by unanimous decision. That fight became historic: Terence became one of the first to collect belts in four weight categories of the four-belt era, and the bout broke records for earnings and views on Netflix.

However, for Canelo himself, the result still leaves a bitter aftertaste.

"Of course, I'm upset. I've always given Crawford his due, but we must have a rematch. Right after the fight, I said: we need to fight again. I didn't feel the way I should have. I really want to arrange this bout again—and everything will be different," Alvarez said.

According to the Mexican, for the full acknowledgment of the greatness of victory, Crawford would need to give him a chance for a rematch. "To get all the respect, he would need to give me this opportunity. But he decided to retire. We just have to accept it and move on."

Canelo emphasizes: he doesn't plan to stop. "I will continue to move forward and arrange fights that fans are waiting for. I want to fight world champions again—that's all. But a rematch with Crawford would be ideal for all of boxing."

Recall that Alvarez plans to return in September.
