Former world champion and expert Carl Froch, known for his uncompromising directness, unexpectedly named the next ideal opponent for unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. In his opinion, it should be none other than the 21-year-old British phenomenon Moses Itauma — the most talked-about heavyweight prospect right now.
"I'd like to see Moses Itauma fight Usyk. I'm a big fan of Usyk, but I'd be very interested to see a fight where a young, fresh, dynamic, and powerful fighter like Itauma stands against such a master," Froch said in an interview with Coin Poker.
According to Froch, such a match would be the perfect test for both: for Usyk, a check to see if he can still dominate over physically superior youth, and for Itauma, a chance to instantly break into the elite, bypassing long "break-in" stages: "It's a fight that can either catapult Moses into the stratosphere or harshly bring him down to earth. And that's why it's so interesting."
It is worth adding that at the moment Usyk has not yet officially outlined plans for 2026.
