The fight between Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) and Deontay Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) seemed very likely, but it seems the situation with the next fight of the Ukrainian is changing. Wilder's team, as it turned out, has its own plans in this regard. It is reported that he is finalizing preparations for his April fight with Derek Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs). This puts the WBC/WBA/IBF heavyweight champion in a difficult position. But in his case, there should be no problems with the number of people willing to meet him.
Sergey Lapin, Usyk's trainer and advisor, previously confirmed that his ward is negotiating with Dana White and his Zuffa Boxing project. Lapin added that Agit Kabayel (27-0, 19 KOs) and Andy Ruiz (35-2-1, 22 KOs) were also recently named as potential opponents for the champion.
"We are negotiating with the most talented and best boxers in the world. And Usyk is one of them," White recently stated when asked about the Ukrainian champion.
