Agit Kabayel (26-0, 18 KO) and Damian Knyba (17-0, 11 KO) began promoting their fight for the interim WBC heavyweight world title. The boxers met at a press conference ahead of the fight scheduled for January 10 in Oberhausen, Germany.
"Returning home to my fans is a huge and important event for me. In my last fights, I was doomed to lose, now I'm the favorite, but I approach each fight the same way. I'm just starting training camp for this fight. Initially, there's a lot of work to be done on conditioning and physical preparation, and we won't start working on tactics until two weeks before the fight. I'll leave that in my coach's hands. I've always wanted to fight the best, and the best is Usyk, but right now I need to focus on the January 10 fight. My opponent will definitely give it his all, and for now, I'm focused only on that," said Agit Kabayel, who has victories over Dereck Chisora, Arslanbek Makhmudov, Frank Sanchez, and Zhilei Zhang, at today's press conference.
"I've never faced anyone as strong as him before, but if I want to be the best, I need to face the best," said Polish giant Damian Knyba about his upcoming opponent.
"This fight is a dream come true. I have worked hard to get to this moment and earn such an opportunity. I know what I'm signing up for and what Kabayel can offer in the ring. He always puts pressure on his opponents, he hits so that his opponents fall, and I know it will be a tough fight. But I believe in myself and my victory. Honestly, I've never faced an opponent equal to him in strength before. In my opinion, he is currently the world's number two, but from the very start, my goal was to become the first Polish heavyweight world champion. After all, I came to boxing to one day become a world champion. I'm fighting on my opponent's turf, I know what I'm signing up for, so on January 10, I'll step into the ring for a knockout," added Knyba.
