Trainer Terence Crawford (42-0, 31 KO), Brian McIntyre, suggests that his charge is entering the final phase of his career, and who knows, he might drop down a weight class.

“Terence has two, maybe three fights left. The training camp for Canelo was tougher than usual. If “Bud” wants to drop down and try his hand at middleweight, I won’t be against it. It’s a good idea,” said McIntyre.

A list of candidates for the super middleweight title holder has already been formed, starting with the middleweight title holder Zhanibek Alimkhanuly (17-0, 12 KO).

“If Crawford agrees to fight me, I will gladly accept the challenge. Fans will be eagerly watching our fight, afraid to miss even a second,” said the Kazakh.

“If Virgil beats Erickson Lubin, what do I think about his fight with Crawford at middleweight? It would be an incredible fight. To be honest, Virgil would be the best possible opponent for Terence,” suggested Oscar De La Hoya, promoter of the 27-year-old boxer from Texas. Ortiz Jr. (23-0, 21 KO) announced his readiness two weeks ago.
